class=\"tg-tlc-storymeta_author\">The Castle Hill centre was officially launched on Wednesday, after shutting in August 2014 for a $34 million renovation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tg-tlc-storymeta_author\">The 9000 sq m centre\u2019s redevelopment has been a collaboration between the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, the Australian Museum, and Sydney Living Museums.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-659\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jpad.com.au\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/image_20160916_2.jpg\" alt=\"image_20160916_2\" width=\"620\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jpad.com.au\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/image_20160916_2.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.jpad.com.au\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/image_20160916_2-420x278.jpg 420w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Millions of treasures from the state collections can be viewed at the centre, ranging from engineering and architecture to science, art, transport, fashion and design, and health and technology.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for the Arts Troy Grant and Minister for Heritage Mark Speakman attended the launch of the redeveloped centre on Wednesday along with board members from each of the three museums.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Grant said the upgrade was \u201csignificant money that has been exceptionally well spent\u201d. \u201cThis is an excellent facility and it has wonderful, excellent exhibits contained in it,\u201d he said. \u201cThey are diverse and they speak a lot about our history but also tell us a lot about what our future can be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Speakman said the reopening of the centre was \u201ca historic collaboration\u201d between the three museums.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-661\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe display store here at the Museums Discovery Centre lets Sydney Living Museum showcase many significant items, that are either too large or too fragile for the house museums,\u201d he said. \u201cThese are items that have rarely, if ever, been seen in public before and they include archaeological remnants from some of Sydney\u2019s most important lost colonial buildings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Speakman said the centre was a \u201cfantastic new facility\u201d for Greater Western Sydney. \u201cIt compliments Sydney Living Museum\u2019s other two visitor experiences in Western Sydney, Elizabeth Farm and Rouse Hill House and Farm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MDC is open at 172 Showground Road, Castle Hill, every
