Officially opened on the 27th May 2009 by the Mayor of Sutherland Shire, the Vision Australia Caringbah facility created an environment in which contrasting colours and textures were used to assist the orientation of people who are blind or have low vision.

The refurbishment of what had originally been a hardware store involved significant modification to provide equitable access throughout the entire facility.

Large areas were specifically designed for the use of Vision Australia clients with space for individual and group activities. The facility provided several types of flexible meeting spaces, facilities for children, several training rooms, specialist rooms for orthoptists and other professionals and an ‘Equipment Solutions’ retail space.
